How to Deal with Negative Thoughts in Depression

Here are some information and advice on how to deal with negative thoughts in depression -

If you are finding it particularly hard to cope, allow yourself a worry 10 minutes every day. This is the time you can really let rip with all your frustrations, anger and other negative emotions during depression.

Write down how you feel. Then stop! Get into the habit of saving up the worst of how you feel for a short concentrated period of time rather than sliding into the habit of feeling discontented and worried throughout the day.

If you tend to lie in bed at night worrying, or suffer sleepless nights when you toss and turn with endless thoughts running through your mind., make a list of exactly what you are worried about and resolve to deal with these things in the morning. The sheer act of writing out a list is a mysterious process, and a positive step that can help you to put worries to one side and allow you to have a better nights sleep.

Try not to catastrophize - assume the worst about everything. It can make you feel far more hopeless and helpless than necessary.

Don't waste time thinking regrets - it won't change a thing. Concentrate your energy on how you can make the best of things, despite the setbacks.
